Tour del Barocco in bici: tre giorni in Val di Noto
Da Siracusa a Ragusa Ibla, tra città barocche e borghi sul mare
Light falling on Noto’s stone, the sea at Marzamemi and roads climbing towards Ragusa Ibla: the Sicilian Baroque Cycling Tour combines the pleasure of discovery with a Mediterranean ride. This approximately 222 km loop starts and finishes in Syracuse, taking three days to explore the coast, countryside and Hyblaean Hills.
After Ortigia, Avola and Noto, the first stage follows the south-east coast to Pozzallo. The next day, the sea at Sampieri gives way to Scicli, Modica and Ragusa Ibla; the return passes Lake Santa Rosalia, Giarratana and Palazzolo Acreide. Dry-stone walls, carob and olive trees accompany a journey of architecture, villages and opportunities to taste local specialities.
The route is mostly asphalt, but the distances and climbs require preparation: the first day is nearly 100 km and the second includes the most ascent. It is suited to cyclists accustomed to several days in the saddle and can also be ridden by e-bike. Visits to monuments and stops by the sea should be planned into each day.
Why choose this route?
- A three-day loop of approximately 222 km, starting and finishing in Syracuse without retracing the same route.
- Val di Noto Baroque: Noto, Scicli, Modica, Ragusa and Palazzolo Acreide contain parts of the UNESCO Late Baroque Towns site.
- From the sea to the Hyblaean Hills: Fontane Bianche, Marzamemi and Sampieri alternate with farmland and inland hills.
- Taste your way along the route: stop for Modica chocolate or other local specialities.
- Three different stages: a long coastal day, a shorter but hillier ride and a return through the Hyblaean Hills.
Perfetto per chi cerca un'avventura outdoor autentica all'insegna di natura, ciclismo ed esplorazione del territorio.
